The entry for this year's Restricted Tournament was down in the Men's Doubles, but up to the usual level in the other events. Competition was keen, but played in good spirit.
In the Men's Singles there was a surprise in that the Holder of the title and number 1 seed, Mark Ashton, was knocked out in the semi-final by a strong Adam Rickenbach by a margin of 21-9 21-14. Adam went on to lose a close final to Ben Tier by 21-19 19-21 21-14.
The Ladies' Singles folllowed the form book, with Holder Jo Dix beating rising teenage star Josie Latimer by 21-11 21-10 in the final.
The Men's Doubles title again went to the Holders, Trevor Darlington and Chris Evans, who were pushed all the way by surprise runners-up James Todd and Alex Ferguson. The winning margin was 21-10 22-24 21-15. James and Alex had eliminated the number 2 seeds, Andy Penn and Rowan Taylor by 10-21 21-17 21-10 in the semi-final.
The seeding proved accurate in the Ladies' Doubles where Sarah Burgess and Kelly Holdway beat Jo Dix and Josie Latimer in yet another 3 set match by 21-15 16-21 21-18.
Jo Dix took her second title of the weekend in the Mixed Doubles. She and Chris Shepperd ran out the winners of yet another 3 setter, by a margin of 16-21 21-12 21-16, over Steve Smith and Sarah Burgess.
